Evening Talk - Canvey Wick - Brownfield Rainforest

Jo will be talking about the work of Buglife – The Invertebrate Conservation Trust who are, ‘Saving the small things that run the planet’. Her talk will introduce us to Canvey Wick, a 93-hectare Brownfield gem, that was the first in the UK to be designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its invertebrate assemblages. She will take us on a journey from a 1970’s proposed oil refinery to its present day form as an invertebrate haven, covering the large scale habitat restoration works, associated invertebrate surveys and highlighting some species of particular interest.
