Norsey Wood Society

The Norsey Wood Society is a community group that works closely with Basildon Borough Council, the owners of Norsey Wood Nature Reserve, an ancient woodland which is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest on the edge of Billericay in Essex, UK.

The Society was formed in 1977 following the purchase of the Wood by Basildon District (now Borough) Council.

We publish quarterly Newsletters to our Members and arrange public talks and other events on natural history subjects which are open to the general public. Some of our past newsletters are available on our Society page.

We encourage our members and others to join the Basildon Borough Council's weekly working parties (on Thursday mornings, 09.15 – 11.30 - more details) and to take part in survey work e.g. monitoring the dormouse, butterfly, bat, invertebrate, dragonfly, bird, flower and fungi populations.

For more information about the Society and the wood please take a look around our website.
